I felt that after last weeks amazing news that BBC’s Countryfile has nominated Dumfries & Galloway as their Holiday Destination of the year for 2016 that I would follow up with a blog post on some amazing wedding venues in Dumfries and Galloway you may or may not know about.
This list is not endorsed or in any specific order and is no way a complete list of all the wedding venues Dumfries & Galloway has to offer all couples. From the rolling hills of Galloway to the beautiful coast that stretches the entire length of county there is a venue for you!
1 – Friars Carse
Friars Carse is situated in Auldgirth, just 15 minutes drive from the hub of region Dumfries. With tranquil views overlooking the river Nith (amazing for riverside ceremonies) the property known for its strong associations with Robert Burns who lived for a while at the near.by Ellisland farm.
One of the quirkier but increasingly popular places to getting married in Dumfries & Galloway. The Cocoa Bean Factory is as the name suggests a working chocolate factory so definitely a place for die hard chocolate fans to tie the knot! You can find the venue in Tynholm right in the heart of the Region.
The quintessential Scottish Castle, Comlongon Castle, near Gretna in Scotland, is a restored 15th Century Medieval Scottish Castle Wedding Venue. The venue is steeped in a wealth of history and set within such beautiful grounds not to mention they also offer Religious, Civil, Celtic and Humanist wedding ceremonies!
Orroland, 9 miles east of Kirkcudbright, is a wedding venue specialising in small intimate wedding ceremonies and celebrations for up to 40 guests. Orroland Lodge has a dramatic cliff-top position, spacious and elegant rooms, and high standards of comfort and convenience making it a stand-out wedding venue.
5 – Crichton Church & Easterbrook Hall
Located in the heart of Dumfries. If you dream of a traditional church wedding then seeing the stunning mini cathedral style Crichton Church is a must. As a venue it has some great advantages of having the Church, Venue accommodation and gardens all within walking distance of each other.
One to watch ! Machermore Castle
In the heart of Galloway, Newton Stewart to be exact you can find Machermore Castle! The property and its outbuildings are currently receiving a complete overhaul, refurbishment and upgrade. Upon completion I know the castle will make an amazing location for all types of weddings!.
